The construction of Mindanao Railway Phase 1 or the Tagum-Davao-Digos segment is being pushed by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to start this year. This was tackled during the Mindanao Railway coordination meeting between DOTr, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Schema on February 2.
Present in the meeting were DOTr Usec for Railways TJ Batan, Asec. Mark Tolentino, and Minanao Railway PMO Head Atty. Ding Silva.
Secretary Tugade also emphasized that Mindanao Railway facilities should be at par with the facilities and design of railway networks in Luzon.
He also noted that each peso spent in the project should be spent and utilized properly and efficiently.
“If we have to spend for the future, spend it right and spend it well, so we do not prejudice the future,” Tugade said.
