The Philippine Marines’ Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT) 3 arrived in Puerto Princesa, Palawan aboard Philippine Navy’s BRP Davao del Sur on June 30.
MBLT 3 was transferred from Sulu to Palawan to help provide security in 14 municipalities in northern Palawan.
MBLT 3 was replaced by MBLT 8, a newly retrained and refurbished unit, in Sulu. MBLT 3 replaced MBLT 12 which will undergo retraining and refurbishing.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command chief Vice Admiral Rene Medina led the welcome ceremony.
“It is a new challenge of the unit to continue the mission and mandate as the protector of the country and promote peace and security for sustainable for development,” MBLT 3 said.
