Manila to Bulacan railway system on ‘full steam’ construction

The construction of PNR Clark Phase 1 or the Tutuban-Malolos line is on “full steam”, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.

“From forms and rebars, the precast segment at the Calumpit Main Site Yard—a 14-hectare area that serves as the main production site for the precast segments of Contract Package 2 of the project—can now be seen,” DOTr said.

It noted that “with the construction works rolling out at an accelerated pace, the first segment for the project was casted last 23 January 2020, while the second casting will commence this evening, 29 January 2020.”

DOTr said the peak production of the segments will begin March 2020, with about 5 precast segments to be produced each day.

“Approximately, 12 to 15 pieces of the precast segment will encompass the project’s pier to pier viaduct,” DOTr said.

PNR Clark Phase 1, a 38-km elevated rail line from Manila to Bulacan, is expected to cut travel time from one hour and 30 minutes to 35 minutes.

It is expected to serve 300,000 passengers daily.
