National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that the Department of National Defense (DND)-Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will stop the red-tagging on the Makabayan bloc in the House of Representatives if it will condemn the atrocities being made by the CPP-NPA and the armed struggle.
This is after Representative Carlos Zarate of Bayan Muna, part of Makabayan bloc, hit the red-tagging being done by the DND-AFP which he said putting their lives in danger.
“If you have evidence, bring it to the proper forum,” Zarate said during the House of Representatives hearing on DND-AFP’s 2020 budget. “Don’t go on a blanket vilification campaign against us.”
Secretary Lorenzana said “ito pong red-tagging na ito hindi naman kami nagumpisa nito. Si Jose Maria Sison mismo ang nagsabi na ito ang kanyang mga front, saying that these front organizations are actually the backbone of the organization of the CPP-NPA.”
“Because it is our job to protect the country from dismemberment, from rebellion that’s why we are fighting the CPP-NPA. I will ask the Makabayan bloc, condemn the CPP-NPA, hindi ninyo kino-condemn eh,” he added.
“Kung saan marami ‘yung NPA, nadoon din kayo. Nagtatayo kayo ng iba’t ibang activities niyo doon and you do not condemn the killings or the atrocities of the CPP-NPA. Pagkananunog sila ng mga equipments silent lang kayo,” Lorenzana said. “How can we now dissociate you from this group when you keep quiet.”
