The Japanese government has turned over 26 units of Mitsubishi Montero Sport to the Davao City Police Office on January 15. The turn over of the vehicles was attended by President Rodrigo Duterte.
“I thank the people and government of Japan for donating the patrol vehicles we are turning over today,” President Duterte said.
“These units will allow our police to more competently perform their duties as well as enable the Police Regional Office 11 to ensure peace and order in the Davao region,” he added.
President Duterte warned police officers not to use the donated vehicles for personal activities.
“It should not be used for personal errands for any officer. It should be where the regulation directs them to be where they are,” he said. “And I’d think the city has still adopted the policy of hiring civilian driver so that they should be able to maintain the quality at least for a longer period of time those motor vehicles.”
