The Naval Forces West (NAVFORWEST) of the Philippine Navy awarded the outgoing security personnel who manned military posts in Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) during the flag raising ceremony on February 17.
The ceremony was held at Headquarters Western Command, CGAR, Bgy. San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City.
This is after a successful Rotation and Reprovisioning (RORE) Mission with BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS17) as the platform. The arrival ceremony for the RORE was held February 14.
“Vice Admiral Rene V Medina, the Commander, WESCOM, headed the awarding assisted by Colonel Antonio G Mangoroban Jr, the Deputy Commander for Marine Operations/Commander, CNTF42,” NAVFORWEST said.
NAVFORWEST said the outgoing KIG security personnel who stood as guards at Pag-Asa, Kota, Panata and Parola detachments for months, received the WESCOM’s KIG Campaign Medals, an award distinct to the heroes and defenders of the country’s western frontier.
