Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito said that China may have gone overboard by installing missile systems in Spratly Islands. “Sa palagay ko medyo sobra na ito – installing missiles and other arms sa disputed islands ay sobra nang pambabastos sa ating soberanya,” he told DWIZ as quoted by Manila Bulletin.
He added that he is hoping that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine government will already act and file diplomatic protest.
“They have gone overboard by installing weapon systems, especially missile systems, dun sa disputed islands,” he said.
“Yun na nga, kaibigan daw sila — malapit daw si Xi Jin Ping kay Duterte — pero tignan niyo ginagawa nila sa ating mga teritoryo. Isa-isang tinetakeover, naglagay pa ng mga armas,” he said.
He said that the Philippines should condemn the Chinese action.
“I support this administration especially on infrastructure and other programs but I think we should file a diplomatic protest. One of our constitutional duties is to protect our territory,” he said.
