A Japanese destroyer operating under Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Escort Division 5 is scheduled to visit Manila on Thursday, September 27.
Murasame-class destroyer JS Akebono (DD-108) will dock at Pier 15 in South Harbor at around 8 am for a three-day good will visit.
“The PN will render customary welcome ceremony upon arrival of the vessel to be followed by a press briefing with both navies’ key officials,” said Commander Jonathan Zata, Philippine Navy spokesperson.
He said the Japanese delegation is headed by JMSDF’s Escort Division 5 commander Captain Josuke Nakamura.
DD-108 has two embarked SH-60K patrol helicopters and 200 officers and crew.
