Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Parola-class Multi-role Response Vessel (MRRV) BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401) conducted an Anti-Piracy Measures with communication and maneuvering exercises, and passing honors with Japanese Coast Guard (JCG) large patrol vessel with helicopter Tsugaru (PLH-02).
The drills were held on July 4 at the vicinity waters off South of Cape San Agustin, Davao Oriental.
“The objective of the said exercise is to further develop the skills of PCG personnel aboard its floating assets in keeping the territory free from piracy and maritime armed robbery by strengthening its monitoring and alarming such as establishing safe recommended routes and installing surveillance radars,” the PCG said.
The PCG said aside from the exercise, the Japan Coast Guard continues to conduct collaborative training in relation to maritime law enforcement capacity as part of their efforts to contribute to the realization of a free, open, and safe Indo-Pacific waters based on the rule of law through this efforts.
The Japanese patrol vessel will also be having a joint exercise with the Indonesia Maritime Safety Organization off Jakarta Port by July 11.
