The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and Koku-Jieitai also known as Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) are planning to conduct goodwill visits and subject matter exchanges to increase Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR), Search and Rescue (SAR) readiness.
Amid COVID-19 pandemic, the two air forces conducted a Coordination Meeting to discuss future bilateral engagements and enhance relationship on June 16.
“Due to health concerns and travel restrictions, both sides decide to conduct the meeting via virtual conference as an alternative to a traditional face-to-face meeting,” PAF said.
PAF Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Plans Colonel Alvin M. Hate highlighted the growing bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and Japan and how military-to-military engagements are key to its continued success.
The Japanese side discussed with PAF the initiatives to improve their readiness and effectiveness to respond to real-world challenges.
PAF said that it is engaging in a number of talks with partner air forces in the Indo-Pacific region to continue building bilateral ties.
