Japan, Indonesia hold maritime exercise off Natuna Islands

Units under the Indo-Pacific Deployment (IPD) 2020 of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) have conducted a maritime exercise with the Indonesian Navy.

The joint maritime exercise was conducted off the west coast of Natuna Islands, JMSDF said October 7.

JMSDF said the goal of the engagement was to strengthen trust and cooperation on maritime security.

JMSDF said it continues to cooperate with partner navies toward a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” even under COVID-19.
