Israel-based international defense company Elbit Systems is reportedly the winning proponent for Philippine Army’s light tank and wheeled armored personnel carrier (APC) acquisition projects under the current Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program.
According to MaxDefense Philippines, Elbit offered the Sabrah wheeled/tracked light tank series equipped with common 105 turret. The wheeled tank uses ASCOD 2 as platform, while the wheeled uses Pandur II as platform.
“The Sabrah light tank series is based on a tracked or wheeled platform, as part of Elbit Systems’ global cooperation with tier-one military platform manufacturers,” Elbit said.
Moreover, Elbit offered the Guarani 6×6 for the wheeled APC.
In line with this acquisition projects, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved and released two Special Allotment Release Orders (SAROs) to cover the funding requirements for the fifteen percent advance payment for said projects.
