Integrated terminal for southern Luzon, Vis-Min breaks ground

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) today led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Taguig Integrated Terminal Exchange (ITX) project which is among the big ticket projects of the government to decongest Metro Manila, specially EDSA.

This transport terminal will serve Filipinos going to southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao via RORO buses. This project will also be connected to PNR FTI station, and the proposed Metro Manila Subway.

The government’s private partner for this project is Ayala Land Incorporated.

To be constructed is a 6-storey building on a 5.57 hectare property inside the FTI compound which would house a comfortable passenger terminal, a centralized ticketing area, several business establishments, and a wide parking area for public utility vehicles, DOTr said.

“Upon its completion on the first half of 2020, Taguig ITX is expected to house around 4,000 buses and accommodate 160,000 passengers daily,” DOTr said.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said he is expecting the completion of Taguig ITX earlier than expected completion date.
