Indonesia intensifies guarding of Natuna Sea

Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Joint Regional Defense Command I commander Vice Admiral Yudo Margono inspected the military unit designated to guard Natuna Sea on Friday, January 3.

Vice Admiral Margono also conducted an air patrol over Natuna Sea.

Indonesia is intensifying its patrol missions after Chinese fishing vessels escorted by Chinese Coast Guard vessel were monitored around Natuna Islands.

Margono said territorial violations carried out in form of illegal fishing guarded by foreign coast guard ships in Indonesia’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) constitutes a threat of violation of Indonesian sovereignty.
