Indian Navy destroyer currently in Philippines

Indian Navy Rajput-class destroyer INS RANA (D52) is currently in Manila for a four-day goodwill visit that started October 23.

The destroyer is skippered by Captain Atul Deswal.

The Philippine Navy said the four-day visit includes series of confidence-building engagements between two navies such as courtesy call to Philippine Navy’s Flag Officer-in-Command by Capt Deswal and party, shipboard tours, goodwill games and reciprocal receptions.

“The visit will cap off with a send-off ceremony also at Pier 15 to be followed by customary passing exercise (PASSEX),” the Philippine Navy said.

“The goodwill visit aims to enhance and strengthen the mutual relationship between the two nations. It promotes closer cooperation and the commitment of both forces to maintain peace and stability in the maritime region,” it added.
