Incoming Armed Forces chief ‘epitomizes the finest in Filipino soldiery’ – AFP

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has welcomed the designation of Philippine Army commanding general Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana as the 55th AFP Chief-of-Staff.

AFP said Lieutenant General Sobejana “epitomizes the finest in Filipino soldiery.”

“He earned the Medal of Valor (MOV) – the highest military award that can be bestowed to a soldier for conspicuous and singular act of gallantry above and beyond the call of duty,” the AFP said.

It also noted that Lieutenant General is vastly experienced in command and leadership, humble and unassuming, and is highly respected even outside the Philippine Army given his impressive track record in every command he holds.

“He is known to his superiors, peers, and subordinates as a warrior with the heart of a peacemaker. He is the pride of PMA “Hinirang” Class of 1987 — the class with 3 Medal of Valor recipients — and the first AFP Chief who garnered the MOV,” the AFP said.
