Government starts Swiss Challenge for New Manila International Airport Project

The Swiss Challenge for the New Manila International Airport Project that will rise in Bulacan has started.

This is after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) published an invitation on April 12, 2019, calling on local and international companies as potential challengers to conglomerate San Miguel Corporation.

San Miguel Holdings Corp. has been granted the original proponent status by the DOTr for its unsolicited proposal for the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the New Manila International Airport Project.

Interested challengers should submit their comparative proposals for the project under a 50-year concession period. The Swiss Challenge documents will be available from 22 April to 23 June 2019, followed by the opening of bids set on 23 June.

The project aims to develop a new international gateway with an ultimate design capacity of 100 million annual passengers, as well as airside facilities with an ultimate configuration of four parallel runways. DOTR
