Government builds roads to Cagayan tourist spots

The Department of Public Works and Highways through the Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-CSDEO) continues to build new better roads to make tourism destinations in Cagayan more accesible to the public.

According to District Engineer Lorna B Asuten, a total of 447 million pesos has been allotted to their office for CY 2018 intended for creation and improvement of roads leading to the tourist spots in the 2nd Congressional District of Cagayan.

These road projects include the following: roads from Our Lady of Piat Shrine to agri-ecotourism park, Aquib-Dugayong Bridge and Piat Diversion Road in Piat; roads leading to Bagu and Mingay Beach resorts and Pata lighthouse in Claveria; and roads leading to the Cararangatan Caves, Cababaan Caves, and Sibang Cove in Calayan.

Also, tourists will be led to other sceneries in the province, like the Cataratan Falls in Allacapan and the Sicalao Falls in Lasam.

“Tourists can now conveniently travel to visit these tourist destinations which will spark economic growth through rural enterprise productivity and tourism,” she said.

The projects are funded and implemented in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) thru the Convergence and Special Support Program. DPWH
