The Philippine Navy’s future BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150), the lead ship of her class, is expected to arrive May 23 from South Korea. She is scheduled to depart May 18. This was revealed by Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo over dzRH on May 15.
“This is our first brand new fighting ship,” Vice Admiral Bacordo said.
Bacordo said the future BRP Jose Rizal will sail for Subic where the technical inspection and acceptance will be conducted.
“Aalis ng Korea sa May 18 na at darating dito sa Pilipinas on May 23. Dederetso siya sa Subic kung saan gaganapin ang ating technical inspection and acceptance,” the Navy chief said.
He also noted that the ship is capable of anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare and anti-electronic warfare.
“This is the first time that we will have this kind of vessel in the Philippine Navy,” Vice Admiral Bacordo said.
The future BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), sistership of future FF-150, is also expected to be delivered later this year.
