A former Kabataang Makabayan (KM) president who turned NPA member surrendered to the combined elements of 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91IB), 7th Infantry Division (7ID), Philippine Army and the Aurora Police Provincial Office on January 10 at the 91IB headquarters in Barangay Calabuanan, Baler, Aurora.
The surrenderee was identified by 91IB commander Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio as Ka Gi.
Ka Gi was a member and courier of Central Front, Komiteng Rehiyon (KR) Cagayan Valley.
According to 7ID, Ka Gi surrendered with one M16 rifle, one short magazine for M16 with 13 rounds of ammunition, and one ICOM radio.
“This only shows that our collaborative efforts with the LGU and other partners are effective. The armed struggle has only brought sufferings, death and misery. Now, Ka Gi has the chance to live peacefully and productively. Through the government’s integration program he will be given livelihood trainings that will help him earn an income,” Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said.
Ka Gi will be assessed for qualification for the Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) which provides financial assistance and livelihood benefits to FRs. The program also gives remuneration for surrendered firearms, depending on its type and make.
