The Philippine Air Force (PAF) will soon have a five-storey Airmen’s Condo at Villamor Air Base Golf Course, Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.
“This day signals the new beginning for our Airmen to have a decent housing quarters in Villamor Air Base at the best place possible,” PAF commanding general Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard R. Kintanar Jr. said during the ceremonial ground breaking held today.
The 5-storey condominium will be built by M-2 Builders. It will have 16-studio units which will provide additional housing units for PAF’s enlisted personnel.
“Yung ating Airmen’s Barrio na doon halos lahat na mga deployed or assigned [enlisted personnel] dito sa Villamor na nabigyan ng housing quarters ay bigla nalang pong nawala noong 1992. And we are just left with 150 functioning quarters at a 2.5-hectare facility within the complex of the old Airmen’s Barrio,” Lieutenant General Kintanar said.
The facility is projected to be completed in July 2019, however, Lieutenant General Kintanar is looking for a December 2018 completion, in time for Christmas.
He also revealed the planned additional 180 units will be built in the same location to accommodate more enlisted personnel and their families without diminishing Villamor Air Base Golf Course’s value, which has been the home of the Philippine Masters since 1975.
“The PAF Golf Council will make things happen and this still will be a championship golf course. And it also will not only be the home of the Philippine Masters, but the home and a dwelling of our enlisted personnel,” Kintanar noted.
