First batch of modern PUVs launched in Iloilo

The Department of Transportation – Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (DOTr-LTFRB) on July 31 launched the first batch of modernized Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) in Western Visayas that will ply new routes in Iloilo.

According to DOTr, 45 brand new modern PUVs will ply routes covering Iloilo City, Oton, and Pavia.

DOTr said during the launch, transportation officials conducted a consultation meeting with PUV operators and drivers in the province of Iloilo, along with a motorcade of the units and free rides for the public.

“These modernized PUVs from Metro Express, which are compliant with the PUV Modernization Program (PUVMP), are equipped with CCTV cameras, WiFi, GPS, automatic fare collection system (AFCS), TV monitors, PWD-friendly and are fully air-conditioned,” DOTr said.
