Philippine Fleet Offshore Combat Force commander Commodore Karl Decapia presided the arrival event of future BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) on May 23 in Subic, Zambales.
He said that the arrival of future FF150 signaled the realization of a modern navy that is capable of imposing the Navy’s territorial defense mandate.
He noted that the soon to be commissioned frigate is capable of fighting the four dimensions of warfare. He also thanked the Philippine government leadership for standing behind the Philippine Navy modernization in pursuit of a credible and modern navy.
The Philippine Navy’s technical inspection and acceptance team will begin their work after the required 14-day quarantine for the sailing crew of BRP Jose Rizal.
Commissioning is poised to be held on June 19 to coincide with the birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, the ship’s namesake.
