“Bombs away, bombs away.” “Flares, flares, flares.” These are among the lines that can be heard during Philippine Air Force (PAF) Air Defense Command (ADC) night air-to-surface strike and air-to-air intercept training held recently.
The 2-night exercise dubbed as ‘Takip-Silim 2021-1″ was held March 2 and 3. A video of the said exercise was uploaded by 5th Fighter Wing.
The aim of’ Takip-Silim 2021-1″ is “to enhance the skills of the fighter pilots and Air Weapons Controllers (AWCs) on night missions during Air Defense operations,” the 5th Fighter Wing said.
“The said exercise also validated the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) on air to air and air to surface operations. IMTA 1 and 2 were utilized as the training airspace of the FA-50PH and AS-211 aircraft which provide a perfect playground to practice different night mission scenarios,” it added.
