Duterte witnesses send off of newly refurbished Navy assets for missions

President Rodrigo Duterte, who attended the 121st anniversary celebration of the Philippine Navy as speaker and guest of honor, witnessed the send off of six newly refurbished and upgraded ships of the Philippine Navy to different areas in the Philippines.

The anniversary celebration was held at Commodore Rudiardo A. Brown Beaching Area (CRABBA) located within the Naval Base Heracleo Alano in Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite.

BRP Quezon (PS-70) was sent off for Naval Forces Western Mindanao and Miguel Malvar-class corvette BRP Magat Salamat (PS-20) for Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao.

Jacinto-class corvette BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS-35) was deployed for Naval Forces West, Jacinto-class corvette BRP Apolinario Mabini(PS-36) for Naval Forces Northern Luzon. Both undergone combat systems upgrade.

Jose Andrada-class patrol craft BRP Jose Loor Sr. (PC-390) and Alberto Navarette-class patrol craft BRP Alberto Navarette (PG-394) were deployed to Naval Forces Western Mindanao.

During the event, the Philippine Navy also presented its newly acquired amphibious assault vehicles and anti-submarine warfare helicopters.
