President Rodrigo Duterte has relieved Bureau of Immigration employees and officials who were allegedly involved in the pastillas bribery scheme at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals.

“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has relieved all officials and employees of the Bureau of Immigration who are allegedly involved in the latest bribery scheme where they purportedly facilitated the entry into or exit from Philippine territory of foreigners working for POGO or Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator for unauthorized fee,” Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Salvador Panelo said.

“The President considers this as an anomaly, which is defined as pastillas scheme, as a grave form of corruption which cannot and will never be countenanced by this government,” Secretary Panelo explained.

“There are no sacred cows in this administration,” he noted.
