Duterte orders Cabinet members to refrain from discussing West Philippine Sea issue

“This is my order now to the Cabinet and to all – all and sundry, ‘yong ano, talking for the government to refrain discussing itong West Philippine Sea with the – with anybody,” President Rodrigo Duterte said in his talk to people aired May 17.

He said that there will be only one spokesperson for the issue, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

“If we have to talk, we talk and tayo-tayo lang, and there is one spokesman – si Secretary Harry will do it. Now you get the picture,” Duterte said.

Present during the meeting was former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile who advised President Duterte not to mind the critics, “just mind history, the Filipino people.”

“Yes, sir. So alam ng tao ngayon na kung bakit ako hindi sumasagot, and this is the best advice that I got ngayong gabing ito,” President Duterte said in response. “To me, you’re the only one that matters. So if you say that I do not waste my time with them, so I will not waste my time with them.”
