President Rodrigo Duterte said during the distribution of land titles to land reform beneficiaries in Mulanay, Quezon on May 2 that the no siren policy initiated under the previous Aquino administration stays.

“Ngayon sabi nila na ano bumabalik na daw ‘yung siren, there is an order of kay Aquino pa ‘yan, and I’d
like to maintain that policy of – Lalo na taga-gobyerno kayo,” President Duterte said.

Upon assuming presidency in 2010, former president Benigno Aquino III declared the “bawal ang wangwang” policy.

Duterte said he is not using the term ‘government officials’. “Hindi ko ‘yan ginagamit na word na ‘yan. I only address, sabihin ko sila: We are workers of government.” he said.

He added that he is prohibiting the use of special plates in the executive department.

“My father was also a Cabinet member during the Marcos. He was the secretary of General Services noon. ‘Yung may hawak nung lahat ng propiedad ng gobyerno – Bureau of Printing, lahat ‘yan, Bureau of Supply. My father never used that number,” he said. “Sabi niya hindi maganda – So when I became a congressman, I never used the “8”,” he said.
