President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Lieutenant General Jose C. Faustino Jr., Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), as the 63rd Commanding General of the Philippine Army.
“Lt. Gen. Faustino is a member of Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class of 1988. He commanded several units including the 7th Scout Ranger Company, 35th Infantry Battalion and the 501st Infantry Brigade,” the Philippine Army said.
“He held key positions such as the Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army and Commandant of the Philippine Military Academy before becoming the Commander of the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division. Under his command, 10ID was able to dismantle six Pulang Bagani Commands, and four guerilla fronts of The New People’s Army,” it added.
The Army noted that Lieutenant General Faustino’s “vast experience will lead the Army in continuing its mission of serving the people and securing the land with integrity and commitment.”
