The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), under the leadership of Secretary Mark Villar, has opened today another portion (1.5 km) of the Laguna Lake Highway, which is located eastbound between Hagonoy Flood Gate to ML Quezon Avenue, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
“The opening of this additional Laguna Lake Highway segment will encourage more motorists to take this faster route from Taytay, Rizal to Bicutan, Taguig,” Villar said.
“You can see that ‘Build Build Build’ is all systems go; tuloy na tuloy na po ang project. Makikita niyo na po ang dulo ng Bicutan to Taytay ay 30 minutes. This is expected to be finished by the middle of this year,” he added.
Present during the event were DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Ben Diokno, and Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano.
“Formerly known as the Circumferential Road 6 (C6) situated along parts nearby the Laguna de Bay, the road project aims to shorten the one-hour travel time from Bicutan to Taytay, Rizal into 30 minutes. This highway already has an integrated bike lane, which was opened in October 2017,” DOTr said.
“As of today, a total of 6 kilometers of the project is now serviceable to the public, starting from ML Quezon Avenue to Napindan Bridgan Bridge in Taguig City,” it added.
