DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade inspected the said project on February 9 prior to inauguration.

“Under the rehabilitation plan, completed in the repair and overlay of Runway 13/31 are the interconnecting taxiways, as well as the 13/31 extension, which also includes the repair of deteriorated asphalt pavement areas, asphalt overlaying works for the entire runway pavement and exit connections, painting of runway pavement markers and guidelines, other related works for aircraft safe landing and take-off, repair and upgrading of deteriorated asphalt pavement connecting to Terminal 4 Apron and North & South Taxiway, among others,” DOTr said.

Secretary Tugade noted that the project is beneficial in facilitating better air traffic at NAIA, especially now with the continuous arrival of repatriated passengers, as well as the anticipated volume arrival of vaccines in the country this month.
