“Sinsabi lang natin di pare pareho ang PPEs na binibli ng ibat ibang grupo at binibili ng DOH. Binibili namin ay mga sets na iba-iba para sa aming facilities,” Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire said when asked why the one million personal protective equipment (PPE) sets cost PHP1.8 billion.
She explained that the PPE sets procured by the health department includes 8 different PPE in it. She said each set includes N95 masks, overalls, ang gloves, head cover, shoe cover, goggles surgical mask and surgical gown.
“Ang set na prinocure namin ay pinakumpleto. Ibig sabihin meron tayong walo na PPE types sa loob nitong sets na siansabi natin,” Vergeire said.
Earlier, Senator Grace Poe why the Department of Health (DOH) purchased PPE sets at P1,800 each when market value was between P400 and P1,000.
The senator noted that opting for a cheaper price but of the same quality would have only cost the DOH about P400 million to 1 billion, generating P800 million in savings at the minimum.
