DOH says no order to stop counting COVID-19 deaths

The Department of Health (DOH) clarified in a statement released April 11 that it has never issued any order to stop the census or reporting of deaths, or any case related to COVID-19 to any health facility.

“This allegation was originally published in the Instagram post of Mr. Arnold Clavio and several posts and screenshots have been circulating online since,” DOH said.

DOH said that all hospitals and health centers are mandated to report on consultations and/or admissions and the status thereof, that fit the COVID-19 case definition.

“We have spoken with MR. Clavio on this matter, and DOH is currently investigating the allegations made. We will provide updates as soon as we can,” DOH added.

DOH said that on the issu of burying COVID-19 fatalities, the Department is closely coordinating with the DILG and local government units to ensure that guidelines on the management of the dead are properly followed.
