After conducting a second pre-bid conference for the Landing Dock Acquisition Project for the Philippine Navy on June 25, the Department of National Defense (DND) announced that the submission and opening of bid envelopes (SOBE) will be held on August 8.
The project involves acquisition of 2 units New Construction Landing Dock Vessels with Four (4) units Landing Craft Utility (LCU) and Four (4) units Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for the Philippine Navy.
The Philippine Navy is currently operating two Tarlac-class landing platform docks acquired under Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program First Horizon.
The new landing dock acquisition project is under the AFP Modernization Program Second Horizon.
“The builder shall either grant the ownership of the vessel’s design to the Philippine Navy or grant a license to the Philippine Navy to manufacture/build using the design,” DND says in the technical specification.
“The Philippine Navy requires tie-up with local companies or shipyard so that a minimum of one (1) unit of the LD will be constructed in-country,” it noted.
Moreover, according to technical specifications, the new landing platform ships should be able to operate at Sea State 6; and suited for helicopter, landing craft utility, MPAC, RHIB, amphibious assault vehicle operations at Sea State 4.
