The Department of National Defense (DND) said that it remains to be ready to help in the repatriation of Filipinos from Middle East amid the lifting of mandatory repatriation of Filipinos in Iran and Lebanon.
“The plan of the Philippine government to deploy assets and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to the Middle East is still in place, Secretary of National Defense Delfin N. Lorenzana confirmed,” DND said.
It noted that mandatory repatriation from Iraq remains in effect, while Filipinos in Iran, Libya, and Lebanon who wish to come home because of the recent tensions will be assisted by the government.
“Personnel to be deployed in the conflict areas will exclusively assist in the repatriation and humanitarian operations,” it added.
DND said it is in close coordination with concerned agencies.
It added that it is ready to provide whatever support is necessary in the conduct of the repatriation efforts to ensure the safety of our fellow Filipinos in the Middle East.
