Defense chief sees how Air Force is prepared to defend airspace

National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said today, May 6 that he saw how the Philippine Air Force (PAF) is prepared to defend the country’s airspace.

Secretary Lorenzana said he experienced actual flying aboard the lead-in fighter aircraft FA-50PH jet during the SANAY DATU Air Defense Exercises.

“This is the most advanced air asset of the Philippine Air Force. I witnessed and experienced first-hand the readiness and dedication of the Philippine Air Force to defend our air space with platforms they have,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

He added that they are pushing for the acquisition of multi-role fighter aircraft under the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program to further boost capability in defending the country’s territorial airspace.
