The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is expecting deliveries of 84-meter offshore patrol vessel from France, 15-meter patrol boat from Japan, and two helicopters before 2019 ends.
This was announced by PCG commandant Admiral Elson E. Hermogino during the 18th Founding Anniversary celebration of PCG held at the National Headquarters PCG on October 10.
Admiral Hermogino noted that the upcoming assets will augment patrol in Benham Rise and West Philippine Sea.
He also noted that one more helicopter and 44 small high-speed response boats are scheduled for delivery next year.
The PCG commandant also reported that “with the recent increase of PCG floating assets, two 24-meter fast patrol boats from France and two 12-meter high speed boats from Japan, the PCG’s floating operative assets continued performing well in surveillance and law enforcement operations against smuggling, piracy and terrorism.”
