Several Chinese vessels were monitored near Pag-asa Island during the inauguration of newly constructed beaching ramp on June 9.
Both ABS-CBN News and GMA News Online reported regarding the sightings of Chinese vessels.
“During the blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony, the ABS-CBN News team spotted several Chinese vessels around the island, including a white Coast Guard vessel, 2 blue and white barges similar to those circling Scarborough Shoal, and several smaller fishing boats,” ABS-CBN News said in its report.
GMA News Online said in its report that “several boats of Chinese fishing militia were seen near Pag-asa Island as defense officials inaugurated a beaching ramp in the area on Tuesday.”
According to GMA News Online’s report, security forces in Pag-asa Island said the Chinese vessels are not really there to fish but to observe the activities of the Philippine military and citizens.
