Chinese PLA aircraft transports medical supplies to Philippines

A Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) cargo aircraft has transported various medical supplies donated by Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to the Department of National Defense (DND), the DND said.

DND said a short handover ceremony was held on May 12, 2020 at Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

“The donated medical supplies are intended for the use of the frontliners including those from the DND and the AFP taking part in the country’s COVID19 response,” DND said.

“Ferried aboard a China Air Force cargo plane, the donated items include 50,000 medical disposable masks, 6,000 medical surgical masks, 6,000 KN95 medical protective masks, as well as 4,200 medical protective goggles and 3,000 face shields. The donation also includes 3,000 protective coveralls, 3,000 waterproof isolation gowns and 6,000 sets of medical boots,” DND noted.

Also donated were 50 boxes of disposable nitrile gloves, 30 infusion pumps, two 16-liter knapsack disinfection sprayers, 50 infrared forehead thermometers, and two thermal imaging helmets.

National Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana received the donation from the Ambassador of China to the Philippines, Mr. Huang Xilian.

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator Undersecretary Ricardo B. Jalad, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Vice Chief of Staff VADM Gaudencio C. Collado Jr., and Philippine Air Force Commanding General LTGEN Allen T Paredes witnessed the turn over.
