Chinese Coast Guard wants increased engagement with PHL Coast Guard

The Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) has expressed intent to increase engagement with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

This was expressed by CCG commandant Major General Wang Zongcai to Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways and Mindanao Projects Eymard Eje during their meeting at CCG headquarters in Beijing, China on November 1.

According to PCG, Major General Wang wished to extend to DOTr Secretary Arthur P. Tugade their desire to heighten engagements between CCG and PCG, to significantly improve the peaceful cooperation between China and the Philippines.

PCG said that Eje and Wang also discussed the possible joint activities between the two coast guards in Mindanao Region and to further foster their friendlier relationship to help enhance the capabilities of the PCG in guarding our waters.

With Eje during the meeting were PCG Southeastern Mindanao District Commander Commodore Roy Echeverria and PCG Western Visayas District Commander Commodore Allan Victor Dela Vega.
