Chinese aircraft carrier Shandong sails to South China Sea for trans-regional maneuver training


Chinese PLA Navy’s aircraft carrier Shandong sailed through Taiwan Strait on its way to South China Sea on December 20.

The said Chinese aircraft carrier was headed for South China Sea for trans-regional maneuver training, spokesperson for the Chinese PLA Navy Senior Captain Liu Wensheng said.


Liu noted that the carrier strike group’s trans-regional maneuver training this time is a regular arrangement within the annual training plan, and Chinese navy will continue to organize such training activities according to the needs in the future.

According to China Military Online, since the aircraft carrier Shandong entered service last year, it has completed the training tasks including carrier-based aircraft takeoff and landing, carrier-borne weapons operation, combat system debugging, etc.
