Chief of the Navy enumerates lined up acquisition projects

Chief of the Navy Vice Admiral Giovanni Bacordo enumerated a number of upcoming acquisitions for the Philippine Navy during the commissioning ceremony of BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) July 10.

“Having a frigate in our fleet enhances our war-fighting readiness, particularly in the four dimensions of modern warfare: anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and electronic warfare,” Navy chief Vice Admiral Bacordo said.

“We still have more projects lined up to boost the modernization of the Philippine Navy into an able and ready warfighting force such as the acquisition of the 8 fast attack interdiction craft-missile, the 2 corvettes, the 6 offshore patrol vessels, submarines, tactical combat vehicles, shore-based anti-ship missile system, and shore-based air-defense system,” the Chief of the Navy said.
