Change in Air Force leadership not due to corruption: AFP

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said that the change in Philippine Air Force (PAF) top leadership is not because of corruption and Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard Kintanar Jr. was not sacked.

AFP Public Affairs chief Colonel Noel Detoyato said Kintanar, expected to reach the mandatory age of retirement early 2020, is giving way to other officers who are also nearing the age of mandatory retirement chance to serve.

“He is not relieved for corruption. It’s just to give way for the junior officers. That’s how professional and dynamic the organization is,” Detoyato said.

“There is no issue of corruption whatsoever, it is for the professional growth of the whole organization,” he added.

On December 5, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the designation paper of AFP-Western Command (WESCOM) commander Lieutenant General Rozzano Briguez as the new commanding general of PAF replacing Lieutenant General Kintanar.
