Cebu City cops surprise jeepney drivers in ‘Checkpoint Caroling’

Various police stations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) headed by its city director (CD) Police Senior Superintendent Royina Marzan Garma, on December 10, conducted simultaneous checkpoints designed to surprise jeepney drivers and passengers in line with crime prevention and the Christmas season.

Police officers from different stations of CCPO went out to their respective areas of responsibility to conduct Checkpoint Caroling to distribute gifts, ITUG AN NI CD and Modus Operandi of Most Common Crimes Flyers.

During the event, police officers apprehended jeepney drivers not because of traffic violations but to give gift packs, sing Christmas carols, and distribute flyers to passengers.

Each police stations partnered with their respective advisory council. Police Senior Superintendent Garma also joined the activity.

“They were able to give away forty (40) bundles of joy to chosen Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) drivers while singing them a carol,” CCPO Station 2 said. “This activity aims to bring joy to every hardworking PUJ drivers and one way of sharing the blessings to each of them. This was made possible through the efforts and sponsorship of the station Advisory Council headed by the Chairman, Mr. Jay Adonis Uy.”

“Moreover, distribution of ITUG AN NI CD and Modus Operandi of Most Common Crimes Flyers to the passenger was conducted in which they were given advice to be more vigilant with their respective belongings particularly in this busy yuletide season,” it added.
