Cebu-based Trans-Asia unveils newest flagship from Japan

Cebu-based shipping company Trans-Asia Shipping Lines has unveiled its newest flagship, the brand-new 8,800 GT RoRo passenger ship MV Trans-Asia 21 from Japan.

Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office VII (MRO 7) Regional Director Marc Anthony Pascua personally attended the unveiling event with Cebu City Councilor Hon. Joel Garganera, Chelsea Logistics President and CEO Mr. Chryss Alfonsus Damuy, Ms. Pinky Sy of Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officials.

“The MRO 7 supports the company’s modernization and upgrading program to provide a fleet with modern, clean and quality ships, which is one of the nine priority programs under MARINA’s MIDP,” MARINA said.

“The aim is to make sea transport for passengers and cargo more efficient and safe, which will be measured through reduced transport cost and time, reduced maritime accidents and higher passenger satisfaction,” it added.
