President Rodrigo Duterte has said that among the promising vaccines being developed against COVID-19 is a Chinese vaccine and China is giving priority to “friendly” Philippines.

“Hintayin lang ho ninyo by December kung makatiis kayo kasi kung lalabas din kayo, matamaan kayo, patay rin eh. Ang mayroon ng — kasasabi ko nga kaya ako saludo talaga ako sa Chinese. Kayong iba diyan sige kayo daldal. Ang unang makuha nga natin siguro from China,” President Duterte said during his July 31 talk to people.

“Ang mapabubuti lang nito to our credit is that we have remained friendly with China and China was able to guarantee, sabi nila dito sa akin, that the Philippines would – ito basahin ko na lang – Chinese Embassy: “China to give priority to the Philippines once the COVID-19 vaccine is successfully developed says Spokesperson Wang Wenbin at their regular press conference on July 28, 2020”,” President Duterte said.

“Nangako sila na priority tayo. Ang the first three China ang nangunguna eh. Moderna pati ‘yung Oxford AstraZeneca,” he added.
