BRP Ramon Alcaraz makes port visit in Vietnam

BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS16) conducted four-day port visit here, following its successful participation in the inaugural ASEAN-United States Maritime Exercise (AUMX) 2019 conducted off the waters of Thailand Gulf.

The onboard Naval Task Group (NTG) 80.5, led by Capt. Hilarion Cesista was accorded a welcome ceremony by their counterparts from the 2nd Naval Region of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) when they arrived Saturday afternoon of September 07.

They later had a courtesy call to, and dinner hosted by its deputy commander, Capt. Dinh Van Thang. NTG 80.5 commander and his party also paid a visit to Mr. Ha Phuoc Thang, Head of Office, Ho Chi Minh City people’s Commitee and counterparts at the Vietnam Navy Technical College.

Series of confidence building engagements between the Philippine Navy and VPN personnel were conducted such as shipboard tour, reception and friendly games.

A send-off ceremony was likewise given by the Vietnamese Navy to BRP Alcaraz early morning today, Sept 10 as it culminated its successful port visit to the beautiful city of Vietnam and sail to return home in the Philippines.

It marks the third time that a PN ship has visited Vietnam which becomes an avenue for sustaining and enhancing the relationship between the two navies and will further intensify such understanding in the areas of security and defense, economic matters, regional and international cooperation.
