Among the assets deployed for the said operation were aircraft NV395, frigate BRP Jose Rizal (FF150), and Marines station in Itbayat Island.

“The NV395 pilots and crew that conducted aerial search operation along the waters of Itbayat and neighboring areas like Sabtang flew low as they tried their best to find the fisherman amidst unfavorable weather. However, the worsening weather condition and poor visibility forced the pilots to shorten their search and suspend the until the weather improves,” NFNL said.

“Meanwhile, the Marines in Itbayat is on continuous search and rescue mission together with local LGU agencies along the seacoast of Itbayat since the fisherman was reported missing,” it added.

“As the search operations continue, Naval Forces Northern Luzon deployed BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) as an augmentation to the ongoing search operation. FF150, being the newest ship of the Philippine Navy, has more endurance to higher sea state conditions and thus can search longer covering a wider search area,” NFNL noted.
