BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) officially entered Philippine Navy service today, July 10 during her hand-over, Christening, and commissioning ceremony held at Alava Wharf, SBMA, Zambales.

BRP Jose Rizal is the first of two Jose Rizal-class frigates ordered by the Philippine government from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

The Philippine Navy said that the addition of FF150 in the current fleet assets certainly provides a significant boost to the fulfillment of the Philippine Navy’s thrust of having modern and multi-mission capable platform competent enough to conduct anti-surface anti-air anti-submarine and electronic warfare operations that truly our maritime nation can depend on.

Her sister ship, the future BRP Antonio Luna (FF151), is expected to be delivered in six months time.
