Philippine Navy’s BRP Gregorio del Pilar (FF-15) was named as Philippine Fleet’s Offshore Combat Ship of the Year. The ward was given on April 23 during Philippine Fleet’s event to celebrate its 80th Founding Anniversary.
BRP Gregorio del Pilar was awarded for her distinguished and extraordinary achievements in various Naval operations and efforts which focus in securing the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty by conducting Naval operations pertaining to territorial defense, security and stability in order to secure the national territory from all forms of intrusion and advancement.
“With her performances over the year, this vessel has undoubtedly proven herself to be the Flagship of the Philippine Navy,” the Philippine Fleet said.
Other awardees were BRP Ivatan (LC-298) as sealift amphibious ship of the year, naval helicopter 435 as naval aircraft of the year, operations officer of BRP Andres Bonifacio Lt. Cmdr. Jennifer S. Monforte as officer of the year, Engineman Secondclass Edwin D. de Guzman of BRP Bagobo (LC293) as enlisted personal of the year, and Head Mason/Carpenter Erwin O. Refuerzo as civilian employee of the year.
